After leaving the Grand Canyon, it was a long drive to Santa Monica. So, the joiurney was broken up by an overnight stop in the Mojavi Desert. The Mojavi Desert encompasses part of California, southwestern Utah, southern Nevada, and northwestern Arizona. On arriving here, I certainly noticed a change in temperature - it was extremely hot with little air. The hotel was literally in the middle of nowhere with just a small diner next door. Apparently the desert has attrcted many film producers over the years in search of the perfect desert setting, and films that have been filmed here include Moonraker, Independence Day, Lethal Weapon, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
