These incredible gardens lie on the slopes of Table Mountain and were established in 1913. They are the only gardens in the world to be included within a natural World Heritage Site. The gardens reflect the history and flora of the Western Cape, and the 130 m canopy walkway (The Boomslang), which is named after one of Africa’s most venomous snakes, winds through the treetops and provides magnificent views across the gardens and beyond. When we arrived here, the annual Cape Town Carols by Candlelight Concert was present for its final of four evening in December. Unfortunately, all the tickets had sold out, as it might have been worth a visit!
