Our penultimate stop took us to Swellendam, which was about a three-hour drive. Swellendam is built among the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains and is one of the oldest towns in South Africa. This is the perfect place for nature lovers, walkers and adventure enthusiasts. It has great hiking trails and beautiful waterfalls, and wine tasting in this region will cost you nothing! This was sadly only a pit stop for us, but it would have been nice to stop a bit longer and see more of the place. We did at least get to enjoy our stop at the little Hideaway Guest House that is run by an English couple who holidayed in Swellendam a few years ago and stayed in this Guest House. The owners of the guesthouse just happened to announce that they were selling up, so Jackie and Stephen said they wanted to buy it and have never looked back since!
