Today was the last day of my holiday, and a free day after everyone else was leaving. At the time of booking my holiday there was a supplement charge on the return flight so it was suggested that I took a free day and flew back the following morning. It was a strange day, though, as I felt a little deserted once the group had disbanded, plus the weather was wild today. I managed to catch up with Belinda, Richard, Ruby, Clare and Sonya in the lobby who were waiting for their taxi pick-up. Richard was saying that they had been out earlier, and a large piece of metal sheeting had suddenly blown off a nearby roof and narrowly missed Belinda – scary! I waited a while until the wind had died down before venturing out and taking a long trek around all the shops and markets of Chengdu to do some last-minute shopping. The sky was very black and threatening something. I eventually ended up in a lovely Starbucks just up the road from the hotel. The plan was to go over to the river afterwards and explore the area, but then the rain came down again and it poured down for the rest of the day. So, I decided to abandon the idea of going to the river, which was a shame, but I don’t think it would have been very enjoyable in that weather.

Before I knew it, it was time to start packing up my belongings and get an early meal and try and get an early night in preparation for my 4am rise the following morning to catch my flight home. So, where next? Who knows, but watch this space and follow me on my next travel journey…
