I went to Las Vegas as part of a great road trip that also included the Grand Canyon, the Mojavi Desert, Los Angeles and Santa Monica. Vegas was an amazing experience which actually exceeded my expectations as far as holiday resorts go. It is, of course, the big entertainment city that it claims to be, but it somehow offers a holiday experience with a twist! After dark, a mix of groups dressed up and ready to hit the town were out mingling amongst couples, the over 70s, and families with buggies – it was like a big family party that everyone was invited to. It felt safe and inviting, and not what I expected at all. Each hotel offers a different theme, and everything from shows to theme park rides is on offer.
The Beetles Love by Cirque Du Soleil was actually being performed in the Mirage Hotel where I was staying and was well worth seeing. This rock and roll poem was promptly brought to life by some amazing dancers, acrobats and aerialists. The lighting and show effects were brilliant and it was a well spent 90 minutes – there was also a good shop available after the event to buy all your memorabilia.
