On route between Whistler and Salmon Arm, we decided to find somewhere to take a break. It was then that we drove through a small and quiet town before stumbling upon the amazing Hat Creek. This place is incredible and is truly like taking a step back in time to the days of the wild west! Some of the buildings date back to 1861. We were lucky to have been able to visit when we did, as the place is only open between the beginning of May and the end of September. As well as having great food on offer – we opted for some homemade fruit pies that were delicious – you can take a tour of the site and even stay in a cabin, covered wagon or tent. There are also a few artifacts around to look at, as well as a small souvenir shop. So, if you want to go back to the days of the Gold Rush and experience somewhere authentic, don’t miss out on Hat Creek if you are passing through.
