This was my last day in Stockholm, and there wasn’t too much time to do a lot because I had to get back to the airport for my flight to Oslo. So, I decided to just have a relaxing couple of hours and do a bit of shopping. There are plenty of shops here from souvenir shops to big department stores, giving you plenty of opportunity for some retail therapy.
I arrived at Arlanda Airport in good time, so I wasn’t rushing through there as I have been in some airports. It is quite an impressive airport in my opinion, as it wasn’t crowded when I was there and there are plenty of good healthy food options available rather than the usual array of fast food that most airports offer. The seating is very comfortable, too, and there were more shops to browse around – plenty to keep me occupied before my flight to Oslo.
So, I arrived in Oslo in the late afternoon and had to go and pick up the keys for the Airbnb from a local 24-hour shop. On arrival at the shop, the code that I presented did not match up with the keys for some reason, and this was unfortunately just the start of a very lengthy issue concerning my accommodation. The man who owned the apartment wasn’t getting back, and then Airbnb weren’t getting back. The situation also included the very kind intervention of a local lady who had just popped out to get some milk! Anyway, I eventually got the keys and picked up a few supplies for the accommodation from the shop, only to arrive at the apartment and find that there was already a family staying there! It was getting late by this time, as quite some time had been wasted waiting around at the late shop. I felt very bad for the family who were already in the apartment, as they thought someone was breaking in and the couple who were in there had two young children. None of us could understand why two sets of keys were in circulation for the same property. Anyway, the sorry situation resulted in me getting booked into a hotel very late in the evening and staying there for the duration of the holiday instead. The hotel was really nice and well located, and I did actually get refunded for the Airbnb and most of the hotel in the end, so, not a bad result but I could have done without all the hassle. So, it was time to get some sleep and wake up to a new day and hopefully enjoy the holiday!
