In July 2017, I made a trip down to visit my sister, Rachel, who lives in Rutland – a beautiful part of the country. She pre-arranged a lovely trip to visit an alpaca farm, as she knew I would adore this! We left in the morning, armed with wellington boots to cater for muddy fields, and it took about an hour and a half to get there in the car. Luckily it was a nice dry day, and the alpacas didn’t disappoint – they were cute and friendly and eager to meet everyone!
We trekked out to the field shortly after we arrived to meet the alpacas, carrying small bags of food which the alpacas were extremely grateful for and were more than happy to try and eat the paper bag as well as the contents! There was a mixture of adult and baby alpacas, and after visiting the field we got chance to meet some more younger ones in the barn. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable and there was a nice little café there to pop into after the trip to indulge in some light refreshments. There was also plenty of free parking, which is always a bonus these days!
